As we announce the release of our first-ever PRO product, let me mention the three biggest milestones of the 15 years of development of the product.
#1. Rotate Heads
Early on we realized that most photos are not “passport photos” but show people with rotated heads or even ¾ profiles.. When you google for any group of portraits you will notice that at least half of the photos show rotated heads. We developed a code where significant points are captured and the head rotated to frontal position.
#2. Open Smile.
Many photos also feature open smile with teeth showing. We solved this by automatic “smile detection” – a first for HeadShop. Open smile is still a challenge for other software. Add these two together it eliminates the majority of available photos when using software that is not designed for rotated heads or open smile.
#3. Face Topo
As you see, all three applications missed Face Topography, the specific shapes that lend character to an individual, (like nose type, lip shape, cheeks, chin, creases, forehead, etc). To fix this, we have reworked HeadShop architecture to allow “Add-ons”, specific libraries of morphs such noses, lips, chins, creases, eyebags, etc. With the help of these shape libraries users can add individual shapes for better topography. The result is HeadShop PRO.
